Nobody is debating the usefulness of the PS5. However, the PC is better for games.
There are many people out there who are not eager to buy the PS5. This is because they don’t believe that another console generation is necessary. But I previously posted that given a PS5 and an Xbox series X; I’ll pick PS5 without blinking. So, what made me change my mind? It’s simply because I’ve realized that my gaming PC provides everything I need to enjoy the next-generation games.
PCs have always been the most competitive platform when it comes to online shooters, RTS and MOBA genres, with Dota 2 handing out more than $219 million in combined prize pools. Undoubtedly one of the most prolific of the last 10 years is CS:GO. Although this has been ported over to both Sony and Microsoft consoles, the majority of the player base plays on Steam. CS:GO has been the staple of PC gaming for almost 8 years and its cult status has seen some of the best CSGO gambling sites where people can bet skins and other in-game items.
I’m always of the opinion that those who can buy a gaming PC should get one. With the best gaming PC, you will have access to an avalanche of games, enjoy great sound quality, amazing graphics and have access to many innovative features and lots of productivity and multimedia software.
Now, the PS4 gave me a lot when it comes to gaming, but that was because it fulfilled some needs that were very relevant when it came. But presently, almost everything you can achieve with the console could be achieved with the gaming PC, save for a few games. So, if you can spend the money, the PC should be the way to go.
How PC Is Better Than PS5
The major reasons why you are advised to go for the PC haven’t changed. Arguments were put up by people before the arrival of the PS4 and Xbox One. The same arguments were also made before the arrival of the PS3 and Xbox 360. Though the veracity of those arguments could be questioned when the PS2 and Xbox came, the same could not be said of now, as the gaming industry has come a long way after 20 years.
These Are the Gains of Choosing PC Over PS5
You can access more games with gaming PCs. The majority of advanced games are released on PCs, as well as consoles. But most of the olden days’ games could be enjoyed on the PCs because of patches, emulators and fan mods. Indie developers also encounter a reduced barrier of entry for their game release in the PCs.
Better Sound and Graphics
With the Xbox series x and the PS5, players enjoy SSDs that are very fast, graphic cards that are robust, and larger ram size specifications. But it will not take anything to come up with a PC that delivers better performances than this. This could even be achieved before the arrival of the next console.
Increased Number of Peripherals
Peripherals like the official control, the proprietary VR headset, some mice and keyboard controls, with a singular official controller are available on the PS5 and Xbox X. But when you have a PC, a lot of gadgets could be plugged in and used. They include the VR headsets, the keyboards, and lots of mice, switch, plus PlayStation and Xbox controllers.
Productivity and Multimedia
If the PC is capable of running the Triple-A games, then it can handle word processors, video and photo editing, music libraries, emails, chat services, video streaming, and others. This can even be combined, making a good PC the best tool for the office and the playhouse.
Having stated these four points, you can now come up with whatever you want about the PC, because these cannot be disputed. However, the level of evolution of PC games in the past 7 years remains impressive. Anyone who tried to advise people to buy the PC before the arrival of the Xbox One and PS4 would have had to say a lot to convince people. But this is no longer applicable because the facts are now in the open.
For instance, in 2013, thinking about a wireless mouse to control your PC with would have been a tall order. Keyboards and mice without wires never existed then, and the wireless gaming sets were too costly then. Placing PCs away from a computer desk meant using long wires and connecting on the TV, and that could only give you a 1080p resolution. But we have up to 4k resolution TVs that present little or no lags, and many wireless peripherals selling for a paltry sum a dozen. The conclusion here is that the majority of the inconveniences associated with the TV play before the arrival of the consoles have been eliminated.
What Do You Intend To Play
Now, if you’ve been having this argument about getting a PS5 in your head, and you have only $500 to invest in this venture, you have to first ask yourself the games you wish to play with the device. Tech innovations and specs, plus controllers aside, consoles are purchased for the sake of playing games. That’s their primary function. So, you need to consider what you want to play and what you don’t want to play when contemplating buying a console.
Now, while I have played Final Fantasy VII Remake, which is exclusive to the PS4 to keep myself busy during the preliminary lockdown in New York, I have also played Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition, Doom Eternal, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and Dead Cells. The latter are all available on PC. So, I play more games that are available on the PC than exclusive PS4 games. Because I have most of the games I want to play on a device I already have, my $500 can go into something else.
What to Consider Before Going for A PC
Now that we’ve talked about why PC is preferable to PS5, you should also know that PCs are costly, and the new consoles that would be launched in the future would be cheaper than a PC of the same capacity. Now, gaming PCs do not come out through mass production. But consoles do, and most consoles are made to help companies sell their games, while PCs are for many other functions. However, assembling your console, installing the operating system, connecting it to the internet, and installing other necessary software may entail that you will play your first game after some days, and this is if no fault comes up while you are setting up.
This is not a battle to be won or lost, because both of them offer amazing gaming, and they come with their merits and demerits. But, if you’ve earmarked some money for the PS5, the advice for you is to see if you already have a PC that can save you the money by giving you whatever you can gain from the PS5 console.
