iPhone 6: Rumors, Facts and Leaked Images

There are claims that Apple hasn’t come up with any innovation since Steve Jobs passed on but the latest iPhone (dubbed iPhone 6) to be released by September may refute this claim. Last year saw the release of the world’s first smartphone with 64-bit processor, the iPhone 5s and the fingerprint sensor was all over the news. Qualcomm has already overtaken Apple in 64-bit mobile chip development with the announcement of the first octa-core Snapdragon 615 chip for mobile devices, which has integrated LTE and 4K video rendering capabilities. Fingerprint sensor too is longer new, it comes with Samsung Galaxy s5. This means lots of 64-bit Android smartphones are coming but for now, Apple stands alone.

There are lots of exciting things about iPhone 6 and the most prominent is the all new Sapphire crystal display.

iPhone 6 Sapphire Display: What’s it all about?

Forget about Gorilla glass and brace yourself for the Sapphire. Practically, this display is indestructible (with normal and abnormal use). Like Gorilla glass, it’s scratch-resistant but even more importantly, it’s “crack-resistant”. If you’re the type that drop your device every now and then and end up with a cracked screen all the time, this display might be just right for you. As demonstrated by Marquees Brownlee, the Sapphire Crystal display can take a lot of abuse.

As opposed to previous rumors that claim iPhone 6 will come with a 5.5″ display, the video shows a 4.7″ device is more likely to be released. We believe there are two versions (4.7″ and 5.5″ ) but  as revealed by KGI Securities analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, there’s going to be a delay in the 5.5″ model production due to technical issues.

Image leaked by Sonny Dickson revealing the two iPhone 6 models.

An Australian blogger who made a name for himself by posting leaked pictures of iPhone 5s before it was released tweeted this image of what are believed to be the two iPhone 6 models last week.

This may be a mockup as the credibility of the image can’t be verified. The leaked image doesn’t have the usual Apple logo at the back and these suggests these are only dummy models. We may have to wait a little while to see hat the real iPhone 6 looks like.

What appears a real leaked image of iPhone 6 back panel of appeared on nowhereelse.fr last month and it looks legit.

The device is predicted to have a resolution of 1334 x 750 (326 ppi)  for the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and a 1920 x 1080 (401 ppi) screen for the 5.5-inch version according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo

iOS 8

iPhone 6 will ship with iOS 8 which Apple describes as the biggest iOS yet. One of the best features is the improved keyboard but there’s more. It’s already available to those that have Apple developer accounts and you may register one to get an idea of what it looks like.

Release date

iPhone 6 (the 4.7″ version) will be released by September. The same can’t be said for the 5.5″ version as this may have to come later this year, or next year.

  • Still two months away. A 5.5" device would've been great. Tired of my iPhone's little screen
