After several attempts to get to use my iPhone again after updating to iOS 6.1.2, I was finally able to activate the phone. Of course, if you rely on hacktivation to use your iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4, Evasi0n won't be of help since it doesn't jailbreak locked and unactivated phones. The only way is to create a custom firmware through Sn0wbreeze which jailbreaks and hacktivates the phone though it's still going to be locked and won't be useable on any network till you unlock. If you haven't jailbroken your iPhone because you're not sure if iOS 6.0.1 could be unlocked, you probably should do it right now since Ultrasn0w Fixer unlocks most A4 devices. I've already jailbroken my iPhone and unlocked it and everything works fine. Right now, Ultrasn0w 1.2.7 won't unlock iOS 6.0.1 directly but with the aid of Ultrasn0w fixer, you can be sure your phone would be unlocked. I wrote earlier on unlocking ZTE and Huawei modems on this post and it works quite well  but lots of comments made me re-write the post with more details. I've used DC unlocker with lots of  ZTE modems including MF110, MF190, MF180, MF673u and more. Unlike Huawei modems that can be easily unlocked by generating the unlock code using the IMEI, there are certain steps to take to unlock a ZTE USB modem with DC Unlocker. I've unlocked iPhone 3G, 3GS and iPhone 4 using this method and I'm sure it will work for you. You don't need wi-fi connection to unlock your phone, it's an offline unlock to get your phone activated and useable with iTunes and any SIM card different from your home network provider. To unlock your iPhone 3G or 3GS or iPhone 4, you must first jailbreak the phone and upgrade to iPad baseband. If you haven't done this, this tutorial won't work for you and you may not be able to use your iPhone with another carrier. Unlocking your USB modem removes all restrictions and gives you the chance to use other network operator SIM cards. My post on unlocking Huawei USB modems still works but this post explains how to unlock ZTE USB Modems easily. I tried looking for a free online tool to unlock ZTE Modems like the one for Huawei found here but couldn't find one that's reliable.
