After several attempts to get to use my iPhone again after updating to iOS 6.1.2, I was finally able to activate the phone. Of course, if you rely on hacktivation to use your iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4, Evasi0n won't be of help since it doesn't jailbreak locked and unactivated phones. The only way is to create a custom firmware through Sn0wbreeze which jailbreaks and hacktivates the phone though it's still going to be locked and won't be useable on any network till you unlock. Evasi0n is a groundbreaking jailbreak tool but unfortunately, there's a little setback for people who rely on hacktivation to use their iPhones. If your iPhone isn't activated with the original carrier SIM, you won't be able to jailbreak with Evasi0n. For about 4 months now, Redsn0w hasn't been updated but thankfully, the latest Sn0wbreze update takes care of this and even if you're on iOS 6.1.2, you can jailbreak and activate your phone by restoring a cooked / custom IPSW. My iPhone was useless for almost two days before I finally fixed this error and got my phone working again. I was trying to restore a custom iOS 6.1.2 firmware created with Sn0wbreeze but couldn't do it because iTunes kept throwing up all sort of error messages. Sometimes, I would get Error 1600, 1601, 1604 or something similar. I use Windows 8 on my laptop and thought maybe my iTunes was messed up or something due to the various jailbreak tools I've used on it. I tried restoring using my old desktop computer running Windows XP but it was still the same thing. A while ago, I posted an article on iOS 6.1 jailbreak on iPhone 5, iPhone 4s, iPhone 4 and 3GS. This tool also applies to iPad 4, iPad 3, iPad 2, iPad mini, iPod touch 4, iPod touch 5. Evasi0n has been upgraded to fully jailbreak iOS 6.1.2 which apple released last week to fix some bugs which includes increased network activity leading to a shorter battery life. Right from iOS 4.1, I've been using SBSettings and it's one of the reasons that makes jailbreaking your iPhone a worthwhile thing to do. The toggles make things easier as you can just swipe you status bar horizontally to get access to your most used settings. It always came up on top of my recommended Cydia tweaks till I upgraded to iOS 6 last year. Just today, I was downloading a huge file from Cydia on 3G, a file of over one hundred megabyte and this error keeps coming up every now and then. I've never download anything from Cydia that big and as a matter of fact, I've never seen this error before. It's been some days now that I've been trying to pull down the file but the thing keeps breaking midway. Wondering what could be wrong, I tried some fixes which didn't work and someone even suggested re-jailbreaking my phone.
