google-adsense

As it's getting harder to get an Adsense account, so also it's getting harder to even maintain one. Of course, lots of publishers know the basic rules guiding the Google Adsense but it's still sad that quite a lot of publishers lose their account before they know it due to reasons they're probably not aware of. It's understandable that you're not supposed to view your own ads, try to cheat the system and other things like that but what about other rules most publishers are not even aware of? The terms of service is rather too long and I didn;t even bother reading through it while I was signing up but within that long boring piece of crappy writing is the secret to maintaing your Adsense … [Read more...]

Addynamo on the other hand was launched not quite long ago but is making waves on the internet. They do this not only with their contextual advertising program only, but also with their sponsored tweets program which lots of people have been benefiting from, whether you are a blogger or not. How to Change Default WordPress Search to Google in Genesis

genesis

It's easy to simply add your Google adsense for search code as a widget in your sidebar but when you want to place this search bar in certain positions, you may consider changing Wordpress default search engine to Google. I redesigned this blog in the last few days, worked on the CSS, re-arranged the widgets and added some little tweaks here and there. I decided to place Google Adsense for search right there on the primary menu, floating to the right. It required a lot of coding I had no idea how to do and found Bill Erickson's post on adding content to Genesis navigation. For some strange reasons, the code didn't work for me when I tried adding Google custom search in that position. Must … [Read more...]

How to Add Google Adsense / HTML Codes to Genesis Without A Plugin

genesis_simple_hooks

I've been using Genesis for quite a while and till just a few hours ago, I didn't know I could actually do away with the "Post Layout" plugin I've been using to add Google ads and other codes to properly format my post pages. Over the last few weeks, I've been trying to reduce my number of installed plugins in order to decrease page load time and also CPU usage. From disabling StatPress, Auto Excerpt Everywhere, down to Social Author bio and loads of other plugins, I thought it would be a good idea to use Genesis Hooks and some conditional statements to display ads and other codes instead of relying a third-party plugin I didn't really need. Finally, I was able to display the ads and … [Read more...]

Adding Google Adsense Leaderboard / Banner Below Header in Genesis

Genesis-1.2-wordpress-theme

Unlike other Wordpress themes, getting certain things done on Genesis can be challenging especially if you're not used to how it works. The post I previously wrote on how to add Google Adsense to Wordpress themes without a plugin doesn't work on genesis if you've noticed. If you need to include Google ads below your header right after the menu in your Genesis theme without an adsense plugin, you can't possibly do that by editing your header.php as in other themes. I recently had to work with a client who insisted having ads below the menu and at first, I had no idea how to accomplish that (since I've never added any code in that position before) till I did a little tweaking here and … [Read more...]

Top 10 Alternatives to Google Adsense Program

top 10 google adsense alternatives

On the post I published previously about alternative ways to monetize your blog apart from Google Ads, I did list some alternative advertisers you can use but didn't take an in-depth look at each of them one after the other. To say the fact, the easiest way to monetize your blog is through Google Adsense but almost everyday, new bloggers get their account disapproved and those who are already in the program get their account suspended based on different grounds. A friend whose account got suspended almost stopped blogging because it was like getting his hopes dashed. After a while, he decided to pick up the broken pieces of his blogging dreams and move on. Even when all requirements are … [Read more...]

Fix: Google Adsense for Search Displaying Result from Homepage Only

google adsense custom search displaying result for homepage only

Whether you're on blogger or wordpress, using google adsense for search has a lot of advantages over using the default search box that comes with most templates. I've been creating google adsense for search units for my sites since 2009 but I noticed something strange when I tried creating a new adsense for search unit lately - the search results was only displaying what it could fetch from the homepage. I tried searching online for a possible fix but couldn't find any. I even checked google's forum but I only saw a couple of people with the same problem and no one offered any reasonable solution. I compared the new adsense for unit settings with the ones I created long ago and it was … [Read more...]
