Add a New Stylish Vertical Floating Share Button to Blogger

new share buttons for blogger

This is not the first set of floating share buttons I'll be sharing on this blog but I realized there's a need to update this cove and maybe change the styling a bit to make it look somehow similar to Digg Digg which I presently use. The need for a horizontal set of floating share buttons on your sidebar cannot be over emphasized since it plays a major role in making sure your contents gets shared on major social networks. Digg is as good as dead and I've decided not to include it in this new set. Buttons included are: Facebook like, Facebook, share, Tweeter, Pinterest, Stumbleupon and Google +1. However, the "pin it" button won't appear on the homepage, just post pages. The Facebook … [Read more...]

Using Blogger Hosted External Images as Thumbnails on WordPress

using external images on blogger on wordpress

One of the first problems I had when I moved over to wordpress was post auto summary on index pages and thumbnails. All my posts appeared in full on the homepage and label pages. There was a section in my theme settings where this can be controlled but due to some unknown reasons, the theme settings didn't generate that auto summary I so much wanted. Being a wordpress newbie, I messed around with the settings with no luck. I even used some plugins that never worked too as posts appeared full screen on index pages without thumbnails. It wasn't until I stumbled across a plugin called Auto Excerpt Everywhere till the issue became half solved. I was finally able to have those posts summary … [Read more...]

Author Bio Widget For Multiple Authors (for Blogger/Blogspot)

author bio widget for different authors on blogger / blogspot

It 's not so encouraging accepting guest posts on a blog hosted on blogger because except from the author's name at the top of the post, there's no plugin to automatically display author's bio below the post like Wordpress. You need to manually write the bio along with the post while composing and it's not so cool. If you recently started accepting guest posts, you need to manually edit those posts you've written previously just to make your bio appear on old posts. This widget allows you to display author's bio below each and every blog post, even on blogs managed by many authors. Each and every one still get full credit for their work. This widget style is based on the very one … [Read more...]

There are different plugins to easily add paypal donations to your blog if you're on Wordpress but the case is different with Blogger. I had this problem while I was on Blogger platform because every tutorial I read on adding paypal donations to my blog never worked. I read that I needed to generate the code from my paypal account by going Merchant Services. The truth is I never found any option to create a donation button under merchant services. I'm not sure if it was a perculiar problem with my paypal account or it's perculiar to my selected country of residence during paypal registration. However, I devised an alternative way to add paypal donations to your blog. This is for for those … [Read more...]

how to migrate, move, copy or export blog posts from blogger to wordpress

I haven't writen a blog post recently because I just moved from blogger to wordpress and going back to the post I wrote on choosing the better platform between blogger and wordpress, I made mention of moving over to wordpress someday but I didn't even know back then it would be so soon! Anyway, I did migrate and everything went smoothly, all my blog posts were successfully imported and there was absolutely no broken links. I was rather skeptical about the whole thing at first but I never knew it would be so easy, the only hard part was customizing my new wordpress theme to look similar to the one I used on blogger so it would look like nothing changed at all.
