How to Turn Off Facebook Notification Sound

mute facebook notification sounds

Over three weeks ago, Facebook introduced notification sound that alerts you each time you have a new interaction on the social network. Audio alerts used to be for chat only but Facebook started testing this notification sound late last year and finally pushed it through on January 28. It quite cool as it lets you know when something happens on Facebook even when you're not on the site but for someone like me, it's one hell of a distraction. Must Read: Merge Multiple Facebook Fan Pages with Different Names Even when I'm busy doing other stuffs, this haunting sound keeps beeping every now and then forcing me to check what's happening on Facebook... a new comment, like, wall post and so … [Read more...]

Merge Multiple Facebook Fan Pages with Different Names

merge different facebook fan pages in to 1

I've created a number of blogs, each having it's own Facebook fan page but over the passage of time, I decided some of these sites should no longer exist so as to give me more time to focus more on this blog. Now, those fan pages were just there but the sites no longer exist. A couple of days ago, I concluded that the best thing to do was to merge all those pages and combine their likes to a single page. I never thought it was possible until I did some findings and did it that same day. On some articles I read online, I was told the Facebook fan pages must have similar names to qualify for the merger but the pages in question had different names and I never thought I could get it done. … [Read more...]

Temporarily Deactivate or Permanently Delete Your Facebook Account

how to deactivate your facebook account

So, I decided to get off Facebook for a week or two: no messages, no notifications. I wanted to get away from the endless photo tags, group notifications that never seem to stop and many other things I don't seem to like about the place. I could simply decide not to log in but the pile of notifications and private messages that would be waiting after those few days would be rather too much. I thought the best thing to do was to deactivate my account for a while. I checked the settings and found out I actually have two options: 1. Permanently delete the account 2. Temporarily deactivate it I prefer the second option because I would still be needing the account, just wanted to get off … [Read more...]

How to Link your Facebook Account with Twitter and Vice Versa

facebook twitter

My Twitter account got linked to Facebook like a year or two ago and ever since, my tweets automatically appear on Facebook as status updates (with via twitter written under the posts). This lets me update my profile on both social networks at the same time. The only drawback was that only I could only send tweets to Facebook, I couldn't update my status on Facebook and then send it to Twitter as a tweet. Related article: Custom Header and Background Image: Using Twitter Like a Boss It wasn't until a week ago when I was messing around my Facebook settings that I realized it was actually possible to do this. Your status on Facbook, uploaded photos and everything you do can be posted to … [Read more...]

How to Hide Read Articles & Watched Videos on Facebook

how to hide articles you read on facebook

When you watch videos or read articles on certain websites, it gets publicized and your friends on Facebook can all see it. It's easy for those who are not even so close to you to follow each and every activity you do somewhere else on the internet apart from Facebook. This often happens because you've granted that particular site to access your Facebook data and post on your behalf, you can't blame them. No website would post on your wall, publicize articles your read or show videos you watch to your friends unless you told that website to do so without knowing. You've granted certain applications permissions you shouldn't and that's why you think your privacy has been compromised. When … [Read more...]

If you wish to wipe your Facebook messages clean, there is more than one way to get it done. Facebook chat has a way of filling up your inbox, making it full of junks you may never read.
