Must Nokia Go Android to Survive in the Smartphone Market?

Nokia-posts-1.2-billion-loss-as-sales-goes-down

There are clear indications that Nokia is losing the smartphone market due to lots of reasons. For over a decade, Nokia's dominance was almost undisputed as demand for Symbian OS kept rising till the emergence and rapid growth of  iOS and Android over the years. Nokia tried several updates to stay alive in the market by upgrading its Symbian platform but obviously, this hasn't helped much. From Symbian ^3, we saw Symbian Anna and Belle which hasn't made much difference. Meego OS was discontined and Maemo too isn't so much in demand. These are clear indications that Nokia definitely has to change its marketing strategy. According to its financial report published last month, Nokia … [Read more...]

how to update symbian ^3 or symbian to belle

Symbian Belle is now available to almost all Symbian ^3 and Symbian Anna phones like Nokia N8, E7, X7, C6-01 and others. There are two ways to get this done: the official way which isn't risky and the unofficial way which allows you to modify your firmware before updating. With the unofficial method, you'll need to flash your phone with a Symbian Belle firmware. I explained all about flashing your Nokia on this post and even more on the post I wrote earlier on upgrading Symbian ^3 to Symbian Anna I'm gonna try to explain both methods in this post but I'll always recommend the official method of upgrading. It's less risky and there's only a slim chance you'll brick your phone. Upgrading … [Read more...]

Nokia Announces 808 Pureview with a Crazy 41MP Camera

nokia 808 review

The moment I saw this, I thought it was just a typo or some sort of joke. 41MP in a mobile phone? Well, if you're a photography freak, this might be your dream phone. Nokia just announced its 808 Pureview which is one of the most astounding surprises at the Mobile World Congress. Of course, Critics have something to say about the design and bogus camera but I do believe is quite a laudable innovation. Nokia 808 PureView HD which is Nokia N8 successor comes with a crazy 41 megapixels ( Carl Zeiss, over-sampling technology), 1.3 GHz CPU, a 4-inch, 360 x 640 pixel screen, 512 MB of RAM and 16 GB of storage. With very tight competition from iOS and Android, you have to come up with something … [Read more...]

Retrieve Forgotten Memory Card Password on Nokia Symbian Phones

how to retrieve lost memory card password on symbian phones

We all make mistakes and forgetting your memory card password is not uncommon. With a locked memory card, you won't even be able to access your files even if you attach it to your computer with a card reader. However, if you're using a Nokia symbian phone, it's dead easy to retrieve your forgotten security password. This trick only works on hacked phones only because you'll be needing a file explorer to view hidden system folders.  If your phone isn't hacked with open4all patch already applied or platform security turned off, this probably won't work for you. To get your memory card unlocked, follow the procedure below: 1. Open X-plore and press 0 (zero) on your keypad 2. Check all … [Read more...]

Hard Reset Nokia N8, E7, 5800XM, N97 (Symbian Anna & Symbian ^3 included)

How to hard reset nokia E7, N8 and all symbian anna and symbian three touch screen smartphones

Unlike old S60V3 Nokia symbian phones that use the same key combination for hard resetting, newer Nokia screen touch devices use different key combinations to perform a hard reset. Performing a hard reset restores the original operating system from the ROM (Read Only Memory).  You may want to restore your phone to factory settings for many reasons: 1. Slow operating system 2. Virus attack 3. Boot -up failure with 'contact the retailer' error message 4. Incompatible applications that can't be fully removed 5. General system error Now, before you perform a hard reset on your Nokia N8 or any symbian smartphone you're using, you should back up your personal data and files as … [Read more...]

Download a Working Version of Bolt Browser

working version of bolt browser

Bolt browser stopped working and I didn't even bother to mention it on this blog because I don't like pointing out problems without providing a useful solution. Every Bolt user saw the notice before it finally stopped working and we all miss that lovely browser. It's the best mobile web browser I've used so far and the fact that it works on all phones makes it even more popular. Unlike Skyfire and other mobile web browsers that gives users full desktop experience on their mobile phones, Bolt browser works on almost every Java enabled mobile phone; it works on Blackberry, Android and all Nokia phones. I prefer using Bolt more than Opera Mini each time I'm with my mobile phone just because … [Read more...]
