Most iPhone users were forced to stick with iOS 5.0.1 because it was the only firmware that allowed untethered jailbreak. I've unlocked iPhone 3G, 3GS and iPhone 4 using this method and I'm sure it will work for you. You don't need wi-fi connection to unlock your phone, it's an offline unlock to get your phone activated and useable with iTunes and any SIM card different from your home network provider. It's a really hard thing to do trying to determine which platform is better between Android and iOS because both have their pros and cons. If you're an Apple freak, you will be of the opinion that there's nothing comparable with your iPhone but the same thing goes for Android OS users.
