And Finally, Facebook Monetizes its Mobile Version

facebook mobile ads

With its initial public offering (IPO) turning out to perform below expectation, Facebook was recently predicted to run out of business in the next five years according to some analysts. There are rumors of Facebook developing its own mobile phone but we're yet to confirm if this is true and there's no official statement from Facebook to confirm it. Despite the huge number of users on Facebook, it's quite obvious this social networking site is a struggling company. With a higher number of its users on mobile, only a little percentage of Facebook's total traffic actually converts to profit. In a bid to monetize its mobile version, Facebook now enables ads on its mobile version. I was … [Read more...]

Stop CISPA – A Nightmare Worse than SOPA and PIPA

stop cispa

Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA) has turned out to be the most controversial legislation after SOPA and PIPA. If you think this doesn't affect you in any way, I'm sorry to disappoint you because it surely does. You're asking what CISPA means and if you should be worried about it, right? CISPA is a United States proposed law introduced on November 30, 2011 by U.S. Representative Michael Rogers and 29 co-sponsors. If this is passed into law, it'll allow the government and private bodies to share information in an effort to combat cyber threats. It goes a lot deeper than this actually. Unlike SOPA and PIPA which was widely seen as nothing but internet censorship and got … [Read more...]

Google Glasses – The Electronic Eye Glasses Finally Unveiled

This electronic glasses brings the internet and some Google services right before you including voice commands, video chat, location check-ins, maps and lots of others. As shown on a video posted by Google on Youtube, overlaid on the narrator's vision are weather stats, text messages, map directions, subway alerts, calendar reminders, and — of course — Google+ integration. Instead of reaching to your pocket to take … [Read more...]

Apple Knocks Another Quarter Out of the Park

apple ipad ipod iphone 4s mac

Tuesday morning brought good or bad news depending on which side of the Mac vs. PC debate you fall on. Apple announced its net profits for Q1, which began in October, were $13.06 billion. Yes, that's billion with a “b,” as in “But how could any company make that much money?” The answer to that question is found in a few different places. First of all, the company sold $37.04 million iPhones in the quarter. This accounts for a huge part of the company's record-shattering profits and flies in the face of many tech analysts who predicted the 4S did not possess enough of a “wow factor” to attract more customers. These predictions were undone in large part by Sprint's new complicity … [Read more...]

What is SOPA and how Does it Affects You?

Google SOPA blackout

SOPA means Stop Online Piracy Act and it sounds like a pretty good thing if you don't know what it actually means or the fact that it could change the way we use the internet forever. SOPA is a proposed bill that's before US senate and it's so far become the most controversial legislation that has split the tech world into two. Though this proposed legislation looks like a pretty good thing that's definitely going to stop online piracy, it has been widely criticized as a form of internet censorship which can even be abused. Simply put, SOPA will allow the United States to censor the internet with global impact! SOPA and PIPA (Protect Intellectual Property Act) are presently before the US … [Read more...]
