How to Remove Mobile Responsiveness from Genesis Child Themes

With most people choosing mobile responsive themes these days, I was also using it till recently when I decided to mobilize my blog using MobilePress instead. It's cool having a mobile responsive design but then, it was like there's no way users can actually see the full version on mobile phones and tablets and that's one thing I don't really like about responsive designs. Some users actually prefer seeing the desktop version on their mobile device and this is what prompted me to remove the responsive design from the theme. I now use MobilePress which is the default mobile version and when you request to see the desktop version, it's what you actually get. Removing mobile responsiveness … [Read more...]

Installing Unsupported Applications on iPhone 3G and 2G?

unsupported apps on iPhone 3G

When Apple decided to drop support for it's older devices, millions of users who still have the iPhone 3G, 2G, iPod Touch 1G and 2G felt it was rather unfair. Imagine holding an iPhone 3G and you can't even use the official Facebook app on the phone; you're left to just make and receive calls, send text messages and do basic some basic things. These days, it's like almost everyone is on WhatsApp but if you use an Apple device lower than iPhone 3GS, you won't be able to use this and lots of other apps you normally should have on a smartphone. I used to have an iPhone 3G and later an iPhone 3GS but back then, I could use all those apps people can't use on older devices anymore. A friend … [Read more...]

How to Remove Status Update Location from Facebook For Android App

remove location from facebook android app

On a post I wrote earlier about removing location from Facebook status updates, a number people inquired on how to do this on Facebook for Android app since the guide given in that article doesn't apply to the mobile app. This can be done easily by turning off GPS service on the phone completely but not everyone wants to do this. This stops other applications requiring GPS to function from working properly. Weather, Maps and other applications are few out of the many apps requiring GPS to work. Personally, I really don't like it too when my real location is included with my status update on Facebook but Facebook makes sure there's no way you can turn this off within the application except … [Read more...]

Free Alternative to TuneUp Media to Fix Album Art and Song Name

musicbrainz

A while ago, I made a post on how to fix missing song info including album art and make your iTunes library look much better. The procedure given in the post still works but then, you need to purchase TuneUp Media to actually do this. One thing I've come to realize is that for every shareware you have to pay for, there's likely to be a freeware that's going to do the job. It's only up to you to find it. With this software I'll be talking about shortly, you can fix missing album art, song name, album title and more. It keeps your music library organized and if all you have are tracks labelled Track01, Track02 and such, this software will retrieve the song name and every missing info. The … [Read more...]

10 Weird Reasons Google Adsense May Suspend your Account

google-adsense

As it's getting harder to get an Adsense account, so also it's getting harder to even maintain one. Of course, lots of publishers know the basic rules guiding the Google Adsense but it's still sad that quite a lot of publishers lose their account before they know it due to reasons they're probably not aware of. It's understandable that you're not supposed to view your own ads, try to cheat the system and other things like that but what about other rules most publishers are not even aware of? The terms of service is rather too long and I didn;t even bother reading through it while I was signing up but within that long boring piece of crappy writing is the secret to maintaing your Adsense … [Read more...]

How to Disable Long SMS to MMS Conversion on Android

disable sms to mms conversion on android

The first time I tried sending a long SMS on my Android device, it got converted to a multimedia message (MMS) and the recipient didn't even get the message because it wasn't a multimedia phone. On most Android devices, when your SMS exceeds three pages, it automatically gets converted to MMS. I tried checking the message settings maybe this is something that could be adjusted but there was absolutely nothing there to change this. Sometimes, there's need to send a pretty long SMS and the longest I've sent was actually 9 pages. Crazy? Anyway, since my Android device forces me to send the message  as MMS (which I didn't want to), I had to look for an alternative. There are several SMS … [Read more...]
