I’ve created a number of blogs, each having it’s own Facebook fan page but over the passage of time, I decided some of these sites should no longer exist so as to give me more time to focus more on this blog. Now, those fan pages were just there but the sites no longer exist. A couple of days ago, I concluded that the best thing to do was to merge all those pages and combine their likes to a single page. I never thought it was possible until I did some findings and did it that same day.
On some articles I read online, I was told the Facebook fan pages must have similar names to qualify for the merger but the pages in question had different names and I never thought I could get it done. Doncaprio.com had over 4,000 fans, and there was a total of about 3,000 fans on the other two pages and after merging them all, I got over 7,000 fans on Doncaprio.com. Wondering how I did it?
Method 1: Merging directly from your page admin settings
Let me make this clear that this didn’t work for me since none of those pages have similar names. They are not duplicate pages per se, it was more like merging pages no longer in use with an active one. Anyway, you can still give it a shot.
1. Go to your fan page, Click on Edit Page at the top, then, Update Info
2. Now select Resources from the links on the left. If any of your pages qualify to be merged, you should see the option to Merge duplicate pages on this page.
Well, I didn’t see it and eventually used the other method outlined below.
Method 2: Using the duplicate pages merging form
This is simple and straightforward and as a matter of fact, very easy. Just visit www.facebook.com/help/contact/?id=238908726149664.
You should see a form and here, you can merge up to five Facebook fan pages but I did only three.
- Select the page you want to keep first and then use the other options to choose pages you want to merge with that first one. Click Send and you should see this:
I did it just yesterday morning and this is what I got in my email later in the evening:
As you can see, this worked for me and I guess it should work for you too. You should note that those pages will be deleted and the change can’t be undone so you must think it through before going ahead with it.

I have three fan pages about cars with different names. And tried to merge and it won’t let me. Does the page I want to keep has to be authenticated ? Thank you. Tried couple times and they still deny it
None of the pages I merged were authenticated but who knows, maybe I was only lucky.

I checked on my mobile phone using Opera Mini and found out the link wasn’t working. I came back to the post when I got on PC and checked the link and it was working fine. I’m using a VPN with a US IP address and I can only deduce that the page is probably not available for users in every country.

I have spent 2 days reading and effortlessly trying to do this….when i land up on “request to merge page”…the only page existing there is the one with the most likes is what I want but the bottom part of the page doesnt give me the option of other existing pages to merge even though they are there, names are the same and I admin both of them? please help if yo can.

And you clicked them to see? The bottom parts are dropdown menus and won’t appear till you clicked them. All the pages have to be there even if they’re unrelated.

How you doing? Maybe you can help me. I already had a fan page with 2,600 likes. I turned my profile page into a fan page per FB instructions which has 4850 likes, so now I have 2 separate pages. Apparently it converted without giving me access as an admin so it doesn’t show it when trying to merge it with my current fan page. I went to “report the page” from the new page menu and selected “duplicate” since I didn’t see an option to claim the page. I’m afraid you have to create another personal profile, then set the new profile as admin for both pages. You can then try merging the pages using your new personal profile.

I have made the procedure using doncaprio link (works from romania using a US VPN) a month ago, but I did not receive any confirmation/message from facebook and the marge was not done.

The link is not available in all countries. I would advise you access it with a US VPN or proxy server and clear your cache.
Thanks for this info. Is it possible to retain the URL from the fan page with lesser “Likes”? Or, once the lesser page is deleted, would it be possible to then use that URL in the page that was just merged to (the one with more likes)?

I doubt if it’s possible. It’s the one with more likes that’s usually retained. The other one gets deleted.

Perhaps you should try to publish the pages before trying to merge them Also, I’m not sure the request will be granted since all those to pages are probably unrelated.
Hi Don C. I have merged before successfully thank you. However now I have done everything possible and Face Book will not allow the merge? I have changed the profile pic to be the same, the url, the cover pic, about me info. what else do i have to do? This is what they are saying……..! Your merge request has been denied. The Pages in question do not match in name and/or what the Pages represent. To ensure that submitted merges are processed, please ensure that the selected Pages represent the same entity.
Are you sure you selected the smaller one to be merged into the other one with more fans? This can also make Facebook to decline he merge request.
