8 Reasons You Should Choose Samsung Galaxy S3 Over iPhone 5

To the dismay of Apple fans, the much expected iPhone 5 came out with little or nothing to offer. There were countless rumors before the actual release, lots of leaked photos were seen and the anticipation was just rather too much. The hype died the very day iPhone 5 was released and lots of iOS users were disappointed. Though statistics shows that the device sold millions in the first day, that shouldn’t be enough reason to go for it. Samsung Galaxy S3, which is seen as a close competitor, is a much better alternative. If you’re wondering if you should still go for iPhone 5 or Samsung Galaxy S3, these points below should convince you.

compare iphone 5 with samsung galaxy s3

1. A much bigger screen

Samsung Galaxy S3 comes with a 4.8 inch screen and this makes doing certain things on mobile much more easy. With a wide screen, watching movies is much more enjoyable and everything looks so realistic. iPhone 5 comes with a tiny 4-inch screen with a resolution of 1,136×640 while Samsung Galaxy S3 has a generous 4.8-inch screen with 1,280×720 pixels resolution.

2. External storage support

iPhonelimits its users to 64GB storage and Samsung Galaxy S3 has a storage of 32GB but even at that, you can expand it to 96GB by using a 64GB SD card. Expandable memory is one thing that will never come to Apple devices.

3. User replaceable battery

One problem you always face when you use a powerful smartphone is battery drainage. Since Apple refuses regular users to remove and replace their batteries, it’s a major disadvantage you won’t find on Samsung Galaxy S3. You can carry two batteries around and replace them at will: That’s one of the freedom Samsung gives you.

4. Android, a better operating system

I love and everything Android. It’s way better than iOS in many ways since you’re not limited to what your phone manufacture says. iOS is all about obeying Apple’s rules and to me, it’s not worth it. You can check the post I wrote earlier on Android vs iOS.

5. NFC (Near Field Communication)

One of the things NFC can do is beaming contents from one device to another and with a Samsung Galaxy S3, you can simply tap two phones against each other to send files and documents. You will never find this on iPhone 5.

6. A better front camera

Both phones have a 8MP rear camera but an added advantage to Samsung Galaxy S3 is the from camera that’s 1.9MP while iPhone 5 comes with a 1.2MP front camera. Video calls on Samsung Galaxy S3 will be much much better with the resolution the camera has to offer.

7. A faster processor

Another disappointing factor on iPhone 5 is its new Apple A6 Dual-core 1.2 GHz processor, the speed doesn’t measure up to Samsung Galaxy’s 1.5GHz dual core Snapdragon S4 processor.

8. Apple Maps should be named iLost

Apple removed Google services including Youtube and Google Maps on iOS6. Google Maps was replaced with Apple Maps (or whatever they call it) but this should’ve been named iLost according to a funny commercial by Motorola. To say the least, it’s inaccurate and can really get you lost. :P

Comparing both these mobile devices, it’s quite obvious Samsung Galaxy S3 is a much better alternative. Maybe iPhone 5S (if there will ever be one) will measure up to Samsung Galaxy S3 but for now, Galaxy S3 rules.

  1. apple is really lost for that….what will i do with a phone that will not allow me to free myself, anyone using iphone is jailed to apple and may need a special deliverance. To me if apple will just enable jar application in their iOS i will be okay with that but they won’t do that cause it might cripple their app store

  2. Really i don’t know what the craze about iPhone 5 is all about.am not and will never consider going for one.Am just OK with my S3,but to my surprise we still continue to hear of millions sales despite all the shortcomings

  8. Tough choice. In my opinion, the two phones have been overrated. When I first had my hands on the Galaxy S3, I expected bells and whistles which didn’t chime. I haven’t personally reviewed the iPhone 5, can’t really say if its that bad or good.

  10. Good job Dion! The growing conflict between Samsung and Apple has thrown off customers into always considering which one is better. Apple has a reputation and so has Samsung. I think the only person who can justify which one’s better is the customer him/herself. Thanks for sharing this one! It is very informative.

  11. Apple products still remain the best products ever. They have proven themselves through the durability of their products, though I prefer Samsung Galaxy for some reasons best known to me.
