Blogging can be taken seriously as a career option. I met with several bloggers and web masters who make their livelihood by blogging happily. Internet provides ideal opportunity to work from home as a blogger without the added prerequisites of a conventional job. Like other jobs, Internet doesn’t ask you about your qualification or experience. The prominent benefit of being a blogger is there are no deadlines to meet and you are own boss. In fact, blogging career may be quite lucrative if you take it seriously. But your early days may be hazardous and being a new writer there are chances to make mistakes. In this article, I will tell you about 3 reasons- why your blogging career can be ruined, suggesting you to avoid common mistakes.
Issue of Plagiarism
Gone are those days when a website owner with plagiarised content ruled Google search. This is one of the common mistakes bloggers do. Till some years back it was possible to get good ranking using duplicate content, but now with Google Panda and Penguin updates just forget copy and paste. I know about some websites and blogs, which ranked well in search engines till last year, but now I cannot find them while Googling. In fact those websites got blacklisted by Google and dumped from search results. Focus on creating your own content and not on SEO tips. You can do it easily by re-writing an article.
I would suggest link-back the website as a reference to your blog. With this act, your website will improve ranking as Google bot will end up thinking you share good content with the readers. Google’s program policy clearly suggests us that you should generate content for your perspective users and not for search engines.
Greed for Money
As a blogger, your prime focus should be generating content for the users and not making money. Some of my blogger brothers come in blogging to make quick money. That is not really possible. Blogging demands dedication and timely action. If you continue with good faith, money will pour in, but if you just start blogging for the sake of making money, you will be ruined. I see new bloggers put a lot of advertisements from different advertising networks. At the same time, they don’t think twice before going into link buying and for affiliate programs. Lots of ads and link selling idea will surely push you towards end of the road. Google really don’t appreciate lean pages with a lot of advertisements. I would suggest you to have minimum advertisements on your blog. You will be caught if you act like a cheat. Always mind Google has thousands of tools to monitor you.
No Social Media Presence
Emergence of social media has made blogging easy and if you don’t have social media presence for your blog, your career won’t lift. Prominent search engines like Google and Yahoo have gave prominence to Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest like social networking websites. When you start a blog, you should make your profile pages on different social networks. Not only this, make regular habit of sharing your content on these networks. With acting on these three tips you can save your blogging career.
