I do receive guest posts and one thing I really don’t like is sending traffic away from my blog with the links in author’s bio. You might have probably noticed that WordPress normally strips off target=”_blank” and other HTML attributes from author’s bio. I don’t know why it’s so but I can only assume it’s a way to stop guest authors and contributors from using HTML codes that can mess up your blog’s design. The only HTML tag you can use by default is the link attribute.
There was even a pressing need to use rel=”author” in my author’s bio when I was trying to verify authorship with google. I searched WP settings but found nothing and decided to search the plugin directory. I came across this plugin that did just what I needed.
Allow REL= and HTML in Author Bios does it just right. I can use almost any HTML tag in my author’s bio thanks to this plugin.
I have to warn you that this plugin can be used to do some real bad stuff. You must trust your authors enough to use this plugin. It allows almost any HTML attribute in author’s bio, so be careful. I got my blog’s authorship verified thanks to this plugin and now opens guest bloggers links in author’s bio in another tab cuz I can finally use target=”_blank”.
