Are you wondering how you can make the best out of your internet connection? Or you’re stuck on a slow network and thinking of ways to make your connection faster? Most computer users are not aware that Windows registry limits connection bandwidth in some ways due to the default registry entries. This post explains how you can remove this bandwidth limit thereby making your internet connection much more faster.
-Go to Start and select Run.
- Type gpedit.msc and hit Enter
-Double-click Administrative Templates
-Double-click Network from the panel on the right
-Select QoS Packet Scheduler
-Double click Limit reservable bandwidth
-Select Enable and write 0 (zero) in the space.
That’s all the simple registry tweak you need to do to increase your internet connection speed. I Tried this on Windows XP but I haven’t yet confirmed it on Windows 7 or Vista but I think it should be the same.

I tried this and noticed something that my download speed usually ay stay 10kb/s but not it about 25kb/s. thanks you
yes, i noticed a change too. thanks, great post
old tweak! Works fine for me.
U da best guys
guest what my imagination is!
it cool
Yehay! Kuya Don, I fortuitously browsed this old post of yours, and without any hesitation and with all the excitement in mind, I instantly tried executing the “gpedit.msc” method through the run command, hoping, and, without even considering to think just a bit of a doubt in mind, believing, that it will eventually work. Hmmm… but to my greatest, and utmost consternation, I receive this error message from my Windows-7 home premium SP1 64-bit edition O.S. which says:
“Windows cannot find ‘gpedit.msc’. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.” Why?
Do you have any alternative schemes / tricks, for me, and to those who may also have come across with this very same dilemma, for us to also possibly enjoy that increase internet speed? Looking forward… and again, Thank you…
That’s rather strange, Mark. Can you go to this location instead: C:\Windows\System32\gpedit.msc
oh yes, it is indeed strange Kuya Don. I tryed the two posible methods of finding and perchance, going there, by browsing the C:\Windows\System32 folder, looking all the items there, that begins with the letter g, but there’s no such thing as gpedit.msc. so, I tryed the second option, by going in to run, and typed the whole path, as: C:\Windows\System32\”gpedit.msc” and hit enter. hmmm but again to my utmost dismay, still, I got the very same error message! “Windows cannot find ‘C:\Windows\System32\gpedit.msc’. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.” is it only mean, that the method that you were posting to possibly increase the internet speed, is not at all, applicable for Windows7? again, looking forward. thank you!
I use Windows 7 Ultimate as well as Windows XP Professional and this tweak works on both operating systems. How come that file is missing from your Windows folder? I’m wondering if it could be a virus or something. I really can’t come up with a logical explanation. It beats me, Mark.
HELP Kuya! PLEASE… anyhow, is it possible, that this folder is not included in a home premium edition version of Win7? again, looking forward…
That’s not possible, it’s both on my Win XP and Win 7. Is your Windows 64bit or 32bit?
it is a 64-bit of Windows7 home premium with service pack 1 update installed. Help Kuya…, cause if this is really possible, I really want to enjoy this tweak. PLEASE! Many thanks in advance… and again, very much looking forward.
I’m not so coversant with 64-bit system folders but here is a last suggestion: Got to C:\Windows and in the search bar, search for gpedit.msc
If it’s not there, I’m afraid here’s no other way.
ah OK. now I finally got it, Kuya Don. I finally got to come across with this website which says:
“If you are troubleshooting gpedit.msc in Windows 7 Home Premium, it does not exist; you need to upgrade to the Ultimate edition.”
you may wish to check this website for additional info:

then tell me, what do you findout. Thanks yoh-yoh!, Kuya Don…
